I don’t like memorizing life; I like life, and so I remember it: installment: Karen Lewis

We never met. I stood next to her several times but we never exchanged words. My loss.

I remember thinking years earlier with a few friends back in the latter days of his tenure, that Da Ma’er was in trouble. Planes in fields. Parking meter deals. The Olympics.

And The CTU just elected CORE.

And on came Karen Lewis.

And then Daley resigned.

I remember the two seeming timed.

I remember liking that.

She was ready.

But Like most things he touched, Rahm changed everything.

Chicago Teachers Union president Karen
Lewis said Sunday that she would support a
national teachers strike.

“| do. But I don’t want to organize it,
” she said with a laugh while addressing an annual conference of the Network for Public
Education, an anti-school privatization
group.

“We need to spend so much time organizing
each other because there’s so many people
that are nowhere near ready for that. And it’s
too serious a move to do and to undertake
without tons and tons of preparation, so,
you know, 2020 maybe.

P.S. Linda Hudson is a force of her own.
