It is the cog out of line which changes the machine.

Incidentally, I do believe I was thinking about Chicago when I thought of this. Admittedly, it was a few days before it actually found its way to the typewriter.

Which is a machine. With a key for the letter ‘o’ that sticks. And hence a cog is out of one.

And yet, perhaps the fact that some machine’s never change says less about the machine and more about its user.
