I wish he would read this Dear Mr Pedro Martinez, CEO of CPS letter

Dear My Fellow Chicagoan,

Your actions to compel teachers to work with less is misdirected away from what should be your true goal:

Your true goal should be To compel the Mayor, the city council, the state of Illinois, federal grants and programs, and any and every other funding opportunity who will listen: we can’t do more with less any longer.

You should not only try to compel teachers. You need to try to compel the whole city.

Now is the time to advocate for more.

If your title is CEO then we have to imagine you are the boss of a corporation.

Your actions are equivalent to the big boss shouting down to the floor that you are no longer going to try to find new business but instead would make your workers work extra shifts on your current clients— and then you act stunned that within months there is intense burnout.

Your job as CEO should be the health of CPS.

Think of the great innovating CEOs of our time.

Those innovative CEOs whom we admire did not cut the costs put into the development of their inventions— they invested in them.

There are ways. A CEO is tasked with finding those ways.

Soon the school board will be elected.

Soon the imperative will be more direct.

Soon is a good time to start advocating for more instead of insisting everyone does less.

All that I have read about out you show you may consider this compassion.

Think about it for me, okay?

I appreciate your time.

As always,

Looking forward,

Daniel S. Kleinman
