A CHICAGO MODEL FOR THE ELECTED SCHOOL BOARD

Local School Council Protected | General Election Assured

A Dual Model for Success

A model that is built upon participation and access through Local School Council protects local agency and transparency. Amodel that provides general elections promotes city- wide accountability.

The CPS Board needs LSC Participation and General Elections.

At-Large Elections

The agency of the general voting public of Chicago must be ensured for an elected school board to truly account for access.

At-large elections pose many contrarian challenges, such as high campaign spending and partisan alignments.

So the Chicago School Board will consist of 3 elected at- large seats. The top three vote getters in a general election earn their seat on the Board.

Based on the Neighborhood

The agency of individual schools and their Local School councils must be preserved, as their engagement also represents the access provided at the hyper-local level into the school administrative structure.

So 6 six LSC Network Areas caucus to send 6 delegates to the Board.

9 Person Board.
