There are not nearly enough CPS busses for all the students who deserve them —well beyond how few busses there are for those students who not only deserve them but need them, (in a truly federally legal way).
But come on, it’s been over a year.
At this point we should have been creative, like free commutes on Lyft and Uber for any certified CPS volunteer (parents can pass safety checks that enable them to volunteer with students, like they do for the library assistants or coaches or for coordinators of arrival and dismissal) who agrees to pick up and ride share with 3 CPS students dropping off and picking up at school on their way to and from work or around daily planning.
School districts nationwide have struggled to find and hire bus drivers, and in Chicago the district started the school year with only 500 of the 1,200 bus drivers needed to meet transportation needs for 20,000 children. Special education students, who make up half that total group, have been disproportionately affected.

At this point, just try more.
Limiting commute is limiting entry.
And this is school.
