Legislation to codify a staff position for each Board Member of the Chicago Elected School Board has been drafted by Representative La Shawn Ford.

Representative Angelica Guerrero-Cuellar is expressing that next steps are needed in advancing the school board act, but for proper discussion on those next steps, CPS should be part of the discussion.

“We should start discussions like this by inviting  stakeholders to the table first, from the start,” Representative Guerrero-Cuellar said. 

The bill is being managed by public school advocate Daniel Kleinman. 

Kleinman is reaching out to CPS CEO Dr. Pedro Martinez and Board Chair Miguel del Valle.

Representative Will Guzzardi has already committed co-sponsorship.
