No, I’m not talking about our Congresspeople, our State Senators or Representatives, or even our city Aldermen.
I am talking to the most local elected official in the state:
We, The Representatives of Local School Councils, serving the whole of our city’s school system in our equal parts, Must Speak Now.
CPS, acting without public oversight, with their decisions or lack thereof leading to a crisis of unassured safety, a crisis of short sighted responsibility, and a crisis of damaged trust-
Must yield to the resolved voices of the only democratically chosen individuals representing our schools and our students.
Respected members of Local School Councils, I do not assert to know what we all should say,
But I know saying nothing should not be an option.
